Paul Michael Mortensen's Obituary
Paul Michael Mortensen, 59, of Fayetteville, Arkansas died on August 8, 2013. He was born in Racine, Wisconsin on June 9, 1954. He graduated from Case High School in Racine in 1972. He was the son of Eric Edward and Patricia Carol Mortensen. He is survived by his parents and wife of 31 years, Laura, son David and daughter in law Jackie of Fayetteville and daughter Leigh and son in law Jeremy Vaughan of Farmington, Arkansas. A sister in law Kathy and brother in law John Carpenter of The Villages, Florida. Paul’s relatives in Racine, Wisconsin include his Great Aunt Vera Rolfson, Aunts Joyce Christensen, Nancy Koykkari and Diane Mortensen of Brighton, Michigan. Cousins Kris (Julie) Koykkari, Kimberly (James) Yoghourtjian, Tom (Cathy) Rolfson- all of Racine. Nephews Mike (Melissa) Thorpe of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Dan (Erin) Thorpe of Wendel, North Carolina. And other relatives in Brighton, Michigan and Racine, Wisconsin.
Paul received a Bachelors of Architecture from the University of Arkansas in 1980. He loved architecture, working with clients and looking at the technical side of structures. Paul will be remembered for his quick wit, gentle spirit and kind heart. He was a precious son, loving husband, and wonderful father. He was a member of the AIA, NCARB, a certified University of Arkansas Razorback track official, the Golden Touch Craps club, and an avid model railroad enthusiast. He loved to dance to his favorite local bands and listen to the blues. Services will be held Thursday evening at 7pm at the Fellowship of the Hills church at 2783 Mt Comfort Road, Fayetteville. A get together will be held following the memorial service at the Hog Haus restaurant, in their upstairs dining room. Nelson-Berna Funeral Home and Crematory handled the cremation arrangements.
