Peggy Jo Warren's Obituary
Peggy Jo (West) Warren, age 88, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026. She was born in her childhood home in Elkins on December 12, 1937. She grew up in Elkins, attending Elkins Community Church, playing the organ at the church for over sixty years.
She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Arkansas and began teaching in Warrenton, Missouri. She later taught in Fayetteville and Elkins.
Peggy Jo married Edgar “Bob” Warren in 1964. They met in Elkins when Bob’s family joined the church. Bob was an educator too. They lived in Zuni, New Mexico and St. Charles, Missouri before returning to Elkins, building a home on a mountaintop that has been their residence for almost sixty years.
She was quiet & shy, humble & gentle, and giving & kind. She loved to laugh at and with her husband and sons. She raised her boys with high expectations and earnest encouragement. After having only boys, she was thrilled to welcome her three daughters-in-law to the family. She adored her grandchildren and considered all the time spent with them as an opportunity to observe, teach, and simply “love on them”.
Peggy Jo is survived by her husband, Edgar “Bob” Warren and her three sons – Charles (and Missy), Bill (and Kim), and Jonathan (and Michael). She is also survived by her seven grandchildren – Marley (and Justin), Jesse (and Jackie), Atticus (and fiance Sarah), Paige, Zuzu, Sydney, and Zoe. She is preceded in death by her sister, Patsy Sweetser and her parents Oscar and Margaret West.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2026 from 5-7pm at Elkins Community Church. A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 2:00pm at Elkins Community Church in Elkins, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Elkins Community Church, Task Force (PO Box 191, Elkins, AR 72727). Arrangements are under the direction of Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville.
