Peter Joseph Meesey's Obituary
Peter Joseph Meesey was born October 5, 1945 in Parris Island, South Carolina to Vernon “Bud” Meesey and Jeanne Streckfus Meesey and passed away March 15, 2026. He is survived by his daughter Malissa O’Shell (Shawn), and son Bryan Meesey (Jenny), and 5 grandchildren Hayden, Blake, Olivia, Kellan and Kailey.
He was the first of thirteen children and was loved by a multitude of family and life long friends.
Pete boarded at Subiaco Academy, a Catholic high school in Arkansas. He always felt extremely blessed to have had the opportunity to receive such an exceptional educational experience.
He enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war 1964-1968.
Once out of the service, he was a firefighter, a paramedic, a business owner and a coach to his kids sports teams.
With extreme sadness, we said final goodbyes to Pete, when he succumbed to cancer. He was preceded in death by his younger sister, Barbara, and younger brother Joe. We will miss his gentle, mellow presence, great sense of humor, and his true and complete love of his family. He was a true gem of a human being! No words can express our sorrow, but we’re thankful we had the honor to know and love him. He will surely be missed.
Pete will be laid to rest with military honors 11:30 AM Friday April 24, 2026 at the Fayetteville National Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville.
