Phyllis Jean Cheshier's Obituary
Phyllis Jean Cheshier, 96 of Fort Smith, AR passed away Friday, November 10, 2023 in Ft. Smith. She was born October 19, 1927 in Martinsburg, WV to Leon and Birdie Catherine ((Stuckey) Everhart.
She attended Martinsburg High School and after graduation travelled by train to Central Bible College in Springfield, MO where she graduated first in her class. Here she also met the love of her life, James Cheshier. They married and continued a lifelong ministry together. With his encouragement and support she became a licensed minister in the Assembly of God Church. Their full time ministry was completed at Warwick Assembly in Newport News, VA. The church graciously and generously continued to support them both until her passing. She continued to lead, to teach and to give as a member of Butterfield Assembly in Van Buren, attending faithfully (virtually) until her passing. She cherished her church family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James E. Cheshier, their son, Jonathon Clark Cheshier, her parents, four brothers and her sister.
She is survived by her son, James. L. Cheshier and his wife Kimberly, her daughter, Kathryn Sue Parish, six grandchildren, their spouses, and fourteen great-grandchildren, two brothers, their wives, nieces, nephews and so many dear friends. All of whom she loved dearly and prayed for daily.
Oh, how she will be missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 AM, Friday November 17th at Butterfield Assembly of God Church in Van Buren with Pastor Patrick Kimberland and Glenn Jones officiating. Private committal service will be held at Fayetteville National Cemetery. The service will be live-streamed on Facebook.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Butterfield Assembly of God Church designated for Barnabas Bus, 1302 N. 30th Street Van Buren, AR 72756.
