Presley Eugene (Gene) Patrick's Obituary
Presley Eugene (Gene) Patrick, age 87, of Olathe, Kansas passed away Sunday January 25, 2026. He was born March 2, 1938 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Earnest and Shaddie Combs Patrick and was preceded in death by his parents and four older siblings. He grew up and lived most of his life in Fayetteville, Arkansas. After graduation from Fayetteville High School, Gene served in the US Army for two years and was a member of the Army Reserves for five years. Gene spent nearly all of his career working at Ozarks Electric Cooperative as a Senior Lineman.
While in Fayetteville, he was a member of Central United Methodist Church where he served on mission trips to Africa, Russia, Peru, and Chile and was a weekly lead volunteer in their community meals program. He was a proud supporter of Razorback sports and volunteered for many years as an usher at Razorback baseball games. He loved to travel and enjoyed many Caribbean and Mediterranean Cruises. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends refurbishing antique cars and participating in local and regional car shows.
Gene moved to Overland Park, Kansas in the early 2000’s to live close to his daughter and family and enjoyed taking part in his grandsons many activities. While in Overland Park, he worked part-time as a food sample distributor at Costco and became a local favorite for many. Throughout his life, his positive spirit and kind personality made a lasting impact with those he came in contact with.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela Meyer and her husband Randy of Overland Park, Kansas; one son, Gary Patrick and his wife Valerie of Memphis, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Drew Meyer and his wife Kersee, Jake Meyer and his wife Marisa, Nate Meyer and his wife Maddie, Mark Patrick, Luke Patrick, Ben Patrick, Ethan Patrick and Nora Patrick; four great grandchildren, Emmett Eugene Meyer, Emree Meyer, Lilah Meyer and Lucy Meyer.
Visitation will be 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Thursday February 12, 2026 at Moore’s Chapel. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday following the visitation at Moore’s Chapel with burial to follow in Hester Cemetery in Fayetteville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been suggested to Villa St. Francis Nursing Center to support Our Lady of Grace Hospice House. Checks can be made out to Villa St Francis.
