Ralph Donald Wohlford's Obituary
Mr. Ralph Donald Wohlford, 73 and a resident Johnson, AR passed away Thursday, October 23, 2003 in his home. He was born March 10, 1930 in Greathouse Springs, AR to Earl Donald and Syble (Baron) Wohlford. He was raised at Greathouse Springs and was a graduate of University High School and Fayetteville Business College.
Mr. Wohlford married Reta McCoy on October 4, 1952. Mrs. Wohlford died January 2, 2003. He was a bus driver in Tulsa, OK in the 1950's, worked at Steele Canning Company in Springdale, AR from 1963 to 1966, and George's from 1966 to 1970. In 1992 Mr. Wohlford retired from Ozark's Electric Cooperative Corporation after 22 years of employment as manager of the Data Processing Department. After retirement, he worked as a part-time parts delivery driver for The Bumper to Bumper Company in Springdale from 1996 to 2003. For many years, he was the city clerk for the City of Johnson, AR.
He was a devout Christian and believed in the saving grace of God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. He was a member of the Church of Christ and attended worship service at the Robinson Avenue Church of Christ in Springdale.
He was very generous, forgiving, and loved to provide spiritual and emotional guidance for his family. He was keenly interested in other people and always desired to learn new ideas and wisdom. He loved horses, farm life, gardening, and loved to discuss philosophy and theology.
He is survived by three sons; James and his wife Patti Wohlford of Springdale, AR, Dennis and his wife Mary Wohlford of Bentonville, AR, Steven Wohlford of Johnson, AR, one sister; Sarah Walker of Fayetteville, AR, two granddaughters; Elizabeth and Laura Wohlford of Bentonville, AR, and one grandson; Jason Wohlford of Springdale, AR.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 26, 2003 from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 27, 2003 at 10:00 AM in Nelson-Berna Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Ray Baggett officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Comfort Cemetery in Fayetteville.
Pallbearers will be; Larry Dodson, James Thomas, Ed Bockenstedt, Jason Wohlford, Ray Hufhines, and Haskell Jackson.
