I am going to miss you brother! I have so many great memories! We had some fun back in the day!
I can remember family visits when we were younger delinquents. We were always trying to convince our parents to let us extend our fun times into so-called sleepovers where no one really got sleep thanks to our misbehavior. I remember one time especially. We were about 7 or 8 years old. On a visit from Randy’s family to our home and with the time nearing an end, to no avail could Randy and I convince our parents of the critical importance of Randy staying over for the night. Both families spilled out into the yard where the plans suddenly changed to a group visit to the local dairy shack for ice cream. Everyone loaded into two vehicles with our fathers at the wheel. As the vehicles began backing out of the driveway and just about to pull away, Randy came bolting out of the house waving and screaming. Even unknown to me, he had hidden under my bed and was bound and determined that we were going to have our sleepover. I thought he was in his parent’s car and I’m sure his parents thought he was in my family’s car with me.
It seems we all tend to move different directions as we age and as life progresses. Careers, marriages, children, family obligations, other life events, etc. pull us in different directions. I can’t remember a time in the first half of our lives, before “life’s progression”, that Randy and I didn’t have each other as brothers. Randy was one of the most gregarious fun-loving people I’ve ever met. He could light up a room. He could turn a bad day into a good one. I am going to miss you brother!
Aunt Madie, Kathy, John, Gloria, I love you. You and the family are in my prayers.
