Regina Fritsch's Obituary
Regina Fritsch, age 96, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025 at the Willard Walker Hospice Home, in Fayetteville, AR, surrounded by the love of her family. She will be deeply missed.
Regina was born on December 27, 1928 in Adorf, Germany, and spent her early life in Fleissen, Czechoslovakia.
With her husband and love of her life Julius Fritsch, whom she married in Munich, she immigrated to the United States. They established a home in Salt Lake City, UT, where she was a bookkeeper, and then later retired to Northwest Arkansas to be near her daughter. She resided in the area for 26 years.
Regina was a dedicated mother and grandmother, always going above and beyond to nurture and support her beloved family. Regina was a practical problem-solver. She taught her daughter and grandchildren mathematics skills and is credited for their continued enjoyment of more advanced math topics to this day. She is thanked for encouraging family members to push past social barriers in pursuit of their dream careers, telling them, “You can do anything you set your mind to.”
Her younger sister Elfriede will always remain grateful to Regina for the profound influence she had on her life. At the age of 14, Elfriede was able to attend business school in Munich only because Regina and her husband Julius welcomed her into their home. When Regina and Julius later emigrated, 19‑year‑old Elfriede—newly married to her beloved Franz and joined by their mother Klara—was able to take over Regina’s apartment along with its household goods. This unique chance allowed them to begin an independent life of their own.
Regina was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-seven years Julius Fritsch; father Johan Wunderlich; mother Ida Klara Lorbeer; brother Karl Wunderlich; sister Erika Hofmann; nephew Bernd Hofmann; and son-in-law Charles Lee Wilkins.
She is survived by her loving daughter Ingrid Fritsch; grandchildren Evelyn Mayrose Sholomon and Eric Fritsch Wilkins; step-grandchild Mark Randall Wilkins and his wife Nancy Jean Linford; step-great grandchildren Emma Jordan Linford Wilkins and Patrik Aaron Linford Wilkins; sister Elfriede Agnes Wunderlich and her husband Franz Seraph Egold; niece Christine Langston; and nephews Peter Egold, Ben Karl Wunderlich, and Hans Hofmann.
Regina’s transition to a new life after the devastation of World War II was facilitated by humanitarian support of the Red Cross. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Red Cross in her memory online at https://www.redcross.org or by check to The American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839.
Her remains will be laid to rest in a private service for family at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
