Reginald Lee Kinney Jr.'s Obituary
Reginald Lee Kinney, Jr., of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024 at the age of 45. He was born on December 5, 1978 in Texarkana to Reginald, Sr. and Jacqueline Kinney.
Reggie grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas as an adventurous, inventive, and caring young boy surrounded by family and friends. In 1991, Reggie and his family moved to suburban Atlanta. He loved creating, whether cooking, building fireworks, or pranking his sisters. Reggie immersed himself in his hobbies and interests, always searching for his calling.
Reggie graduated from Brookwood High School in Snellville, Georgia in 1997. He received a degree in Culinary Arts to pursue his passion for cooking and then graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in Finance. Reggie’s intellectual curiosity and empathy later attracted him to a career in nursing, and he received his R.N. degree, specializing in behavioral disorders, after he moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Despite calling himself a misanthrope, Reggie made close friends wherever he went. He was irreverent, smart, and always felt things deeply. He had a contagious laugh and gave the best hugs. Reggie was a loyal friend, a loving son and brother, and devoted to his dog, Dude.
After battling depression for many years, Reggie took his own life. He was preceded in death by his father, Reggie Kinney, Sr., and is survived by his mother, Jackie Kinney; his sisters, Jamie Riley (Tom) and Mandy Kinney; and his nieces, Emma Creedon (Will), Grace Riley, and Olivia Kinney.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 9, at 2 p.m., at Sassafras Springs Vineyard & Winery in Springdale, Arkansas. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
