Richard Baxter's Obituary
Richard Baxter, 45, of Fayetteville died Thursday evening just outside of Tulsa. He was born on January 31, 1959 in Dallas, Texas. Richard grew up loving athletics and excelled in football becoming the first recruited walk-on to dress-out and play in a University of Georgia football game in 1977. He later transferred to the University of North Texas and finished his career playing for the Mean Green. Richard loved the outdoors and he was an accomplished fly-fisherman and hunter.
Richard enjoyed a successful career in ophthalmologic sales, which covered cutting-edge surgery and lens technology. He began his career with Storz, followed by Bausch & Lomb and ending with Pfizer.
Richard touched many lives in his career, as a husband, father and neighbor. He is a shining star that will be greatly missed. Richard married Rhonda, his lovely wife, in 1986. Richard and Rhonda have been blessed with three special sons-Mathew (15), Jacob (12) and Kyle (11).
Richard is preceded in death by his mother, Billie Sue Phillips. He is survived by his wife Rhonda Baxter; three sons Matthew Baxter, Jacob Baxter and Kyle Baxter, all of Fayetteville; his father, Donald Baxter of Booker, Texas; two brothers, Philip Baxter of Metarie, Louisiana and Ronny Baxter of Mandeville, Louisiana; one sister, Dee Devlin of River Ridge, Louisiana; two nieces, Amanda Brocato of River Ridge, Louisiana, and Samantha Baxter of Mandeville, Louisiana; and two nephews, Noah Devlin of River Ridge, Louisiana and Jacob Duplantis of Houma, Louisiana.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 09, 2004 in the Chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville, with Father Paul Worm officiating.
Visitation will be Monday, March 08, 2004, from 5:00 PM till 9:00 PM at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 PM till 9:00 PM.
