Richard Lynn Brown's Obituary
Richard Lynn Brown, Jr. passed from this life to his eternal home on February 23, 2022, in Bentonville, Arkansas. He was born in Hoot Owl Holler near Gravette, Arkansas on May 7, 1934 to Richard Lynn Brown, Sr. and Mary Pauline (Bonnie) Hoback Brown. After briefly moving to California when he was about 3, they moved back to Vaughn, AR. Lynn attended the Vaughn School for the first 9 years and Bentonville High School the last 3 years, where he graduated in 1952. Lynn married Beulah Louise Sooter on May 9, 1953, and lived in Vaughn, Arkansas until 2002, when they moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas. He was a member of the Vaughn Presbyterian Church all his life and he served in many roles there. He was an elder, Sunday school teacher and served as a lay pastor for many years. Lynn spent most of his working life as a truck driver working for Fuels & Supplies. In 1985, he started his own trucking company, which he ran until he retired in 2002. His retirement years were some of his most fulfilling years. He began volunteer work for Circle of Life Hospice and made the comment that those years were some of his most rewarding years. While working there he received Volunteer of the Year in 2011.He also spoke at many funerals over those years.
Lynn was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Beulah Louise Sooter Brown, his parents Richard Lynn Brown, Sr., and Mary Pauline (Bonnie) Hoback Brown. He was also preceded in death by his sisters-in-law Opal Marie Sooter, Ellen Mae Sooter Jefferson and husband Joe, brothers-in-law John Berry Sooter (aka J.B.), Charles Wayne Sooter and Kenneth Eugene Sooter and wife Mary Ruth. He is survived by one daughter Sonja Lynn Brown Tate and husband Dwayne and their daughters Holly Tate Johnson and husband Kurt and Katie Tate McCullock and husband Josh. He is survived by two sons Jerry Lee Brown and wife Sandy and their daughter Carly Brown Eby and husband Blake and David Eugene Brown and wife Laura and their daughter Haley Brown Neil and husband Brandon, He is also survived by 7 great grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by sisters-in-law Helen Ruth Sooter Miller and Ozell Sooter and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be at Nelson Berna Funeral Home in Rogers, AR from 5 - 7 PM on March 1, 2022. Graveside services will be held at Barron Cemetery in Vaughn, Arkansas on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at 11:00 AM.
