Kymberly Lindenmuth Aka Hodges
I am just now learning of Richard's passing. I have different memories and a different history than most, as I was the "kid" who grew up with him. My Mother, Jolyne was his best friend and he was our roommate when I was around 12, 13-16 or so and was in our lives off and on till my Mom passed of Pancreatic Cancer in 2011. Richard wrote a beautiful piece about my Mom which I cherish and read annually. Richard drove me crazy as a kid, making me read and write in his books and write a report after every book I read. However, because of him, I became a sy-fi, fantasy, mystery movie fanatic and even horror films (Alien in particular) and an avid reader of Stephen King and so much more. We my last trip home to visit and we connected at the Tilted Kilt and he met my husband but 2017 or so we lost touch because FB sucks. I sent him an email today to brag that all his teaching and nagging me and scolding and forcing to read and write damn reports paid off as I wrote a book about being a young widow who escaped an abuser. It was partly my story and part fiction. I wanted him to see and he could brag. I am shocked, saddened and floored that Richard is gone...The friendship he and my Mom had was so special and spanned 30 years even after we moved to CA. I guess they are together watching over his lovely wife and chatting politics and God knows what.
Richard, if you are watching, accept that The Sagittarius Way is also dedicated to you. Rest in peace and love....Dick-Duck...(You hated it when I called you this) Love you..
Kymberly
