Richard "Dick" Stockland's Obituary
Richard “Dick” Stockland, 86 of Springdale, AR passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023 in Fayetteville, AR. He was born April 3, 1937 in Middleton, WI to Albert and Marilla (Stace) Stockland.
Dick had a long career with Tyson Foods in sales and marketing and after retiring from Tyson Foods, he joined his son Jim as a partner in A&D Sales and Marketing. He was a member of Springdale First United Methodist Church, and a U.S. Marine Veteran. He graduated from East Side High School in Madison Wisconsin in 1956, and Madison Business College in 1960.
He joined the Tyson Foods organization in 1968 through their acquisition of Prospect Farms. He worked as an accountant and a plant manager. In 1972, he moved to the Springdale home office of Tyson where he began his career in sales and marketing. He was Vice-President of Sales and Marketing in charge of the Retail Division, then the Food Service Division. In the 1980’s, he started the Club Store and International Divisions.
Dick’s charitable activities revolved around his church. He was a member of the Foundation Board, the PPRC and Finance committees, a Stephens Minister, and a member of the Anna Brown Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry and David Stockland.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Stockland, three sons, Tom Stockland and wife Pam of Fayetteville, AR, Jim Stockland and wife Dru of Fayetteville, AR, Lloyd Meeks and wife Anna of Wilmington, NC, two daughters, Beth Armstrong and husband Rob of Fayetteville, AR, Kelly Henington and husband Joe of Tontitown, AR, one sister, Doris Marten of Madison, WI, twelve grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 8th at Springdale First United Methodist Church with Reverend John Fleming officiating. The service will be livestreamed at the following link https://youtube.com/live/IrNkU1akD98?feature=share
A reception will be held immediately following the service until 6:00 PM at The Springdale Country Club to allow you to visit with the family.
