Ricky Loyd Hancock's Obituary
Ricky Loyd Hancock, age 63, passed away Friday, May 1, 2026, in Centerton, Arkansas. He was born October 25, 1962, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, the son of Melvin Loyd and Thresa (Holcombe) Hancock.
An entrepreneur at heart, Rick owned and operated his own roofing company for many years. He took immense pride in his craftsmanship and the lasting relationships he built with his clients and colleagues along the way.
Beyond his professional life, music was the heartbeat of who Rick was. A gifted musician and songwriter, he had a rare ability to bring people together, whether he was playing for a large crowd or simply "picking" for friends and family. Rick was particularly proud of his original songwriting, including his song "Doctors Appointment," a tribute to one of his favorite Fayetteville hangouts, Doc Murdock’s.
His talent took him to great heights, including the pride of performing onstage with headliners such as Merle Haggard, Charlie Daniels Band, Shenandoah, Ronnie Milsap and more. His musical legacy will live on through the memories of his band, Rick Hancock and Bulletproof, and the countless lives he touched through his songs and stories. He had many “brothers” within his circle of friends that he stayed very close with over the years, and will be dearly missed by everyone.
Rick will be remembered for his commanding presence, his undeniable talent, and the genuine way he showed up for others. He had a natural gift for making everyone feel welcome, leaving an impact that will be felt far beyond his years.
He is survived by the love of his life, Jana Hancock of Rogers, Arkansas; his beloved son, Nick Hancock of Springdale; and his mother, Thresa Hancock, also of Springdale. Rick was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Hancock of Amity, Arkansas.
