Melissa Upchurch
Dear Debbie, Marilyn, and Carolyn,
I send condolences on the passing of your mother, and prayers of peace and comfort for you for the coming days. It´s hard to lose one´s mother no matter how old we are or how old Mom was.
I have fond memories of Miss Rita; such an energetic and vibrant person she was, and a darn good Band Mom!
And indeed she did raise three strong and independent and smart women. I know you are her pride and joy.
I knew a little of Miss Rita´s military history and, having learned more from her obituary, am awed by and very appreciative of her service to our country. She is one who put the "Great" in "Greatest Generation."
Your mom had a wonderful, upbeat personality, and many talents and interests. In short,
Miss Rita was cool long before it was cool to be cool!
Light Perpetual shine on your generous, kind, fun, and loving mother.
I regret I´m too far away to attend her visitation and service, but next time I am in Fayetteville, I will pay my respects at her grave.
Love, Melissa
