Robert Cameron Smith's Obituary
Robert “Cameron” Smith passed away July 18 in Rogers AR.
Born February 1, 1951, in Hempstead, NY; Cameron grew up in Southern California in the 1960s when the music of the Beach Boys ruled the radio and where sports and surfing became his world. Cameron attended St. John Chrysostom School, Inglewood High School and Long Beach State where he used his athleticism, drive to win, and unquestionable charm in building life-long friendships, all of which formed the future leader he would become.
Cameron was the Founder and CEO/President of Cameron Smith & Associates where in partnership with the love of his life, wife Monica, he successfully built the premiere recruiting firm CSA Recruiters that for over 20 years remains the keeper of the keys to doing business in Northwest Arkansas. The CSA Family will carry on Cameron’s legacy with tremendous pride and gratitude. He loved them all dearly.
Cameron was preceded in death by his parents Phyllis Marie Brown and Wilfred Smith, mother-in-law Lulabelle Thomason, grandparents Robert E. Brown and Agnes E. Brown, uncle Robert E. Brown Jr., and precious nephew Colten Smith.
Cameron’s passion for helping people will live on through all the lives he touched. At his core were always faith, family, and fun. He loved his family and Cameron loved God. His deep relationship with God and his time in his men’s bible fellowship were his lifeline as a husband, father, friend, and leader. That relationship strengthened his mission to give back through the numerous corporate boards and non-profits he served on. Being raised by a single mom led Cameron to support the Single Parent Scholarship Foundation for many years.
His sense of humor and love of laughter were infectious. Cameron’s practical jokes were legendary, and he was always willing to take them in return. Cameron Smith’s annual Fourth of July fireworks at Shadow Valley were some of his happiest times. Although a California transplant, he was a passionate supporter of the Razorbacks. He also loved live music, and everyone knew exactly where he could be found any night the AMP had a concert.
Showmanship was in his soul. From his time as a professional softball pitcher wowing the crowd with his fastpitch, to magic tricks and ventriloquism for his nieces, nephews and most recently his grandchildren, that’s where he found joy.
Cameron is survived by his large loving family; Wife, Monica Smith, Children, Jeff & Tara Smith, Troy & Michelle Smith, Jeff & Sarah Tucker, Jaclyn & Brad Julian, his ten cherished grandchildren, his siblings Tom Smith, Kathy & Jay Forbes, and his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. All adore him and miss him very much.
