I had the pleasure of teaching with Gabe at SHS for many years. He was just a terrific person to be around - always funny, always smiling, and always willing to help anyone who needed it. Gabe would always be looking for new ways to make math interesting for his special ed classes & would often sit in on math classes for his own benefit. On top of all this, Gabe was a master carpenter - I had a few days working on a friend's house being built to see him in action. I couldn't believe his skills at measuring & sizing up all kinds of framing details. He had a special talent to visualize construction. My son worked with Gabe for 2 months on an extension one summer & was so impressed with him - he learned many of his skills from Gabe. At a time when the world needs more Gabes, we lose one of the best. I will remember him always - Bob Eldi, SHS Math teacher 1967-1999.
