Robert J. "Butch" Moody's Obituary
Robert J. “Butch” Moody, age 81, of Fort Smith passed away Sunday March 2, 2025. He was born February 18, 1944, in Fort Smith to Robert and Judy (Campbell) Moody. He was a longtime member of Saint Boniface Catholic Church in Fort Smith. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served in the United States Air Force and in the Navy Reserves.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lura Witt Moody; two daughters, Jill Ledbetter and her husband Robert of Oklahoma and Sondi Catsavis and her husband George of Fort Smith; his son, Chris Moody and his wife Emily of Fort Smith; one sister, Sondie Callaway of San Diego, California; seven grandchildren, Landen Ledbetter (Tarah), Gunnar Moody (Cris), Logan Ledbetter, Zach Moody, Blake Farmer, Maggie Farmer, Lexie Mitchell (Erik) and one great-grandson, Michael Robert Ledbetter.
He attended Saint Boniface Catholic School, Saint Anne’s Academy, and Westark College. After the military, he took over his father’s business. He lived life to the fullest with his avid love of hunting, fishing, lake life, spending time with family, great friends, and telling tall tales.
Visitation will be 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Thursday at Saint Boniface Catholic Church in Fort Smith with burial to follow in the Fort Smith National Cemetery with military honors.
