Robert Balazs Pulay's Obituary
The family of Robert Balazs Pulay is sad to announce his unexpected passing at the age of 52 due to a cardiac event. Robert was born in Budapest, Hungary, and immigrated to the United States with his family when he was eight years old. His family moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas, in 1982, and he grew up calling Fayetteville home.
Robert was academically gifted, earning a National Merit Scholarship when he graduated from high school. He studied engineering at the University of Arkansas.
He had an avid interest in animals and the outdoors. He particularly enjoyed herpetology, and he provided a home to many snakes over the years.
Robert was a passionate musician from childhood and played the French horn in the Woodland Junior High School and Fayetteville High School band and orchestra. After learning the French horn, he began to participate in regular guitar jam sessions with a close friend and neighbor. Robert briefly pursued a career as a blues guitarist, and he continued to perform with local bands in the Fayetteville area for several years, playing bass with the band The Troublemakers.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes Pulay (née Kovacs). He is survived by his father, Peter Pulay, his sister, Emoke (Mark Cherry) Pulay, and two nieces, Ophelia Cherry-Pulay and Clio Cherry-Pulay.
A visitation will be held between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on November 2, 2024, at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of the Ozarks.
