Robin Kirk's Obituary
Robin Kirk, who was a resident of Starkville, Mississippi, Ponca City, Oklahoma, Austin, Texas and Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away Friday, June 17, 2011, at her home in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was 74.
Robin was born April 6, 1937 in Starkville, Mississippi, the daughter of Lottye Reed and Robert Pressley Hartness. She attended school in Starkville from elementary school through graduation from Mississippi State University. She married Clyde Quitman Sheely, Jr. in 1959 and they had three children, Pamela Katherine, Stephen Robert, and Tiffany Anne. She and James Curtis Kirk married in 1977 and made their home in Austin, Texas for 22 years before moving to Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2005.
She is survived by her brother, Joe Hartness and wife Gail of Hutto, Texas; children, Pam Dickerson and husband Don of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Steve Sheely and wife Marla of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Tiffany Young and husband Bert of Bladenboro, North Carolina; step-children James Kirk and wife Janet, Steven Kirk and wife Marcie, Gilbert Kirk and wife Marie, and Carol Kirk; eight grandchildren, Lindsey Reed and Davis Dyer Dickerson, Jordan Lee, John Hartness, and Joseph Robert Sheely, and Lillian Katherine, Gwyneth Hartness, and Ainsley Laurel Young, and special caregiver Sheena Renae Owens of Fayetteville, Arkansas; eight step-grandchildren, James Kirk, Shoshanna Buckingham and husband Keith and their daughter, Chloe; Paul, Benjamin and Jonathan Kirk; Kristopher Stromberg, Margaret Sefton and husband Billy and their son Penn, Elizabeth Hewitt and husband Bobby and their children Hunter and Sarah Beth.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and step-daughter Katherine Kirk Stromberg.
Spending time with family and friends was very important to her. She loved to participate in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and traveled often to be with them. She also enjoyed reading, genealogy, and working with the Austin Assistance League and various other charities.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 Tuesday, June 21 at Rolling Hills Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas with an informal interment in Starkville, Mississippi on Friday, June 24 at 10:00 AM in Memorial Garden Park. Arrangement in Fayetteville is under the direction of Nelson-Berna and in Starkville, Welch Funeral home.
