Rodney Joel Sumpter's Obituary
Rodney Joel Sumpter, age 78, of Holiday Island, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday April
29, 2025, in Rogers, Arkansas. He was born April 13, 1947 in Flint, Michigan, the son of
Charles Gordon and Helen Elizabeth Bohling Sumpter. He was preceded in death by his
parents.
Rodney graduated from Goodrich High School in 1965, then University of Michigan with a civil engineering degree. Rodney was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War.
Rodney loved to golf ;he was on the golf team at both schools, then won the Michigan Amateur before suffering severe brain damage in a car accident. He then was cared for by his mother and family, eventually living at Green Acres Easy Living in Rogers, AR. Rodney lived for 48 years after the accident always with a smile on his face. He loved his church, always saying “God and Jesus pretty perfect.” We’re counting on seeing him again.
He is survived by his four siblings Robin Makidon, Jeff Sumpter, Chuck Sumpter, and Jenny Green.
