I recall Mr. Widder with great respect. I accompanied for one of his students my first year as a piano major at UA. He was so patient, kind and helpful to me even though I had no idea what I was doing. He will be greatly missed in this troubled world. My condolences to the family.
Mr. Widder was always very kind, gentle and patient as my oboe teacher in Fayetteville in the late 70s. I remember him very fondly. I am so happy he had a long, full life. My condolences to the Widder family.

I am so very sorry for your loss. May prayer and loving words from others bring you comfort during this difficult time.-Isaiah 57:15
I am so sorry for your loss. Dr Widder certainly shaped the lives of many young boys while serving as leader of Boy Scout Troop 102. I have many fond memories of those times. We always enjoyed the camping trips and we never knew when he might surprise us by bringing out an unusual instrument like a concertina or bagpipes and playing them around the campfire. Thankfully Roger lived a long and full life. May God bless you all.
What wonderful memories I have of this wise and caring man! Many of us who grew up in Troop 102 had our lives shaped by the lessons and skills that Roger taught. He led by example and with compassion, and even now, many years later, my life still daily exhibits the positive imprint of his mentorship. I recall feeling especially inspired on the trail when Roger would share with us the Scoutmaster's minute around the campfire at the end of the day. To Kitty, David, Stephen, Mark, and John, I extend my heartfelt thoughts, and infinite gratitude for the time that I was able to share with your spouse and father."May the Great Scoutmaster of all scouts be with you until we meet again..."
Dear David,I was notified by Phil Hathcock about your father's passing away. What a tender time for you. I remember him so fondly. How fortunate for you and your family that he lived a long life in your company. My parents have been gone many years now. So we become the senior members of our families and life goes on........with the beautiful addition of music thanks to you and your father. With sympathy, Cynthia Drake
I have great memories of Uncle Roger. I was always interested in hearing about the latest instrument he had discovered and loved to hear him play it. He traveled to so many interesting places and he always had a great tale to tell about them. His smile and warmth will always be with us along with a favorite tune. My condolences to to his family.
