I had the pleasure of working with Roger for quite a few years. During that time I learned many things from him, and a few things about him.
He was the solid voice of reason, even amidst chaos.
He was the go-to person whether you had a jammed stapler or an irate customer.
He always knew the weather forecast for the day, or if it was time to assess your property or turn back your clock.
He thought his words through before weighing in on anything, and he was seldom ever wrong.
He had a one-liner for every occasion.
He was the first to open his wallet for a gift or a box of donuts, or if somebody’s kid had a fund-raiser.
He never lost his cool or raised his voice. But if he dropped his pen loudly on the countertop, you knew he’d had enough.
He was genuine and kind always, but could be firm when it was called for.
He had a softer voice that he only used with sweet little old ladies. He was never too busy to lend a listening ear or to offer words of advice.
Roger was one of the good ones, a wonderful human being, and he will be missed a bunch. I will smile every time I think of him.
