I have just learned of Ron's passing. We played together several years in Tulsa in the popular bluegrass band the Sons of the Boutonnieres. Ron was an immensely talented singer, guitarist, and songwriter. He and I also did a number of gigs as a duet--mainly his tunes and others he liked that didn't fit into the bluegrass band--and those years were among the best of my life. Working with him made those days the best.

More than a good musician, he was a good guy. This world is a poorer place without his voice and his smile. I send my condolences to his family.

Mrs. Wiggins: I was so sorry to hear about your Ron. He was in the bank a few weeks ago and we had a very nice visit. I was completely shocked when I saw the paper. I know he will be missed by family, friends, co-workers and those of us who only knew him for a short, but he was always so friendly and such a pleasant person to be around. Our prayers will continue to be with your family.

My heart sank when I saw Ron's name in the Tulsa World obituaries. Ron performed in my club in 1977 and 1978 with the "Sons of the Boutonnieres" and "The Nairobi Trio". He was a great musician, singer and songwriter. He was also a gentlemen.

My heart goes out to his family and friends. I hope you have lots of "Family Pictures".

My mom called me early this morning to tell me about Ron's obituary. I am so sorry that I hadn't found a way to stay in touch with Ron. I, like one of your friend's Libby, googled and tried to locate Ron a couple of times in the past couple of years. Age does that to a person.

I knew Ron in high school and college years and was blessed enough to sing with him, make a few tapes (reel to reel of course) with him and he even accompanied my singing in a Miss Teen Tulsa contest:).Most importantly, he was a dear friend. I stayed in touch with Ron through our middle 20's and then we lost touch.

Ron was an important part of my teen and young adult years and he helped me deal with some family issues we had in common.More importantly he made me feel valued and cared about just for being me.

Libby, I wish we'd met but I know that you were much loved because he continued to live his music and share it with others. If he recorded any music that I could purchase I'd love to get it. My old reel-to-reel tapes of us singing are in sad shape, but I'd love to hear him again. My prayers are with you and your family. He will be missed but he'll always be in my memories.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was shocked this morning when I saw Ron's name in the Tulsa World. I would love to talk to you sometime. Please give me a call. I am usually home in the evenings. It was just about a month ago when I was thinking about you and even googled your name to see if anything came up. You were on my mind!

I played with Ron for a few years in the mid-70's. I haven't seen him since then, but would occasionally hear a little something about what he was up to. I'm sorry to hear of his passing. Best wishes to the family.

I am so shocked to hear the news of my friend passing. I was so fortunate to have played with Ron and Rick Morton for a couple of years. Ron was a brilliant singer/songwriter. Playing his songs was never a labor because his lyrics, music and the subject matter that he wrote about were so extrodinary! The world that we live in has not heard the last of this man for his songs will live on and on. Libby, I am so sorry for your loss. You, like Ron said once in a song, were "more than a shadow".
