Biography
Rose Marie "Polly" Nettles (Morris), 85, died peacefully Tuesday, August 28, 2012, in Denver, Colorado. She was born March 9, 1927, in McRae, Arkansas. She attended Harding College and later graduated from UCA in Conway with a degree in Home Economics, and earned her Master's degree from the University of Arkansas. She taught home economics at Farmington High School, worked for the Ozarks Electric Cooperative for several years, and later served as the State Home Economist for all 18 Arkansas electric cooperatives.
Polly was a member of the First Baptist Church for more than 50 years. Her greatest joys were her family and numerous friends. Polly was a generous spirit who cared deeply for her loved ones. Her wisdom, humor, and integrity will be remembered by all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Fred Nettles of Fayetteville; also her parents Floyd and Clemmie Morris of McRae, her brother J.W. "Red" Morris of Searcy, and her daughter Mary Kathleen Cooley of Houston.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Nettles Reid and her husband Chase of Denver, Colorado; her sister Lucille Tapp of Beebe; and her four granddaughters: Laura Myers and her husband Dow of China Spring, Texas; Amy Taylor and her husband Tim of Bee Cave, Texas; Amanda Reid of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Caroline Reid of Denver, Colorado. She also has six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Fayetteville. A private interment ceremony will be held at the Fayetteville National Cemetery under the direction of Moore’s Chapel
