Dear Friends,
I was devastated to hear that Roy's funeral service was over before I learned of his death. Roy was a remarkable person who made a big impression on me. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to meet Roy and spend time in conversation with him. I last saw him at the reunion in Arkansas this passed year; I will forever treasure the memory of that visit.
I think of you all often and with love.

Uncle Dud was such a wonderful man. He loved God like no one I have ever known. His faith and truck in the Lord inspired me beyond words. I shall miss his wonderful voice - but I know he is already leading the chior in Heaven - and I shall also miss his great stories of his life. He loved his wife and children to distraction. When I first met Roy, I was impressed with his generacity of spirit, his zest for life, his love of the Lord, his love of his family, his love of singing. He was patriotic. He was a man of integrity. He was a good man. He took care of those he loved.
I will never forget hearing him sing a hymn as he was rolled down the corridor of the hospital,on the way to the operating room last summer in Wharton. He was one of a kind. I am proud to have known him.

Emma & Family, We were so sorry to hear of RD's passing, but we all know we will see him again. Our loss is Heaven's gain. We will never forget in 1980 in Eufala, AL at Lakepoint Lodge! Another soldier has gone home, Uncle Roy you will be missed by so many, I know that Steve and I will miss you at the family reunions you always had a smile and a kind word for everyone and you always took time to talk to the children, I always thought it was sweet the way you had time for the kids and you didn't act like they were a bother. I have so many wonderful loving memories of you, time spent in your home in summers when I was a child, I loved to hear you sing and I remember going to church with you and you leading the singing and Linda playing the piano. I think I have wore out my CD of The Odom's singing. I may never eat Honey again because it wont be Uncle Roy's honey and I have never found any that came close to being as good as yours. There is so much I would like to say but sometimes words just aren't enough to express how I really feel just know that you are loved and will be missed. To my dear Aunt Audell I hope you can feel my love and prayers for you during this time. You and Uncle Roy have always been so special to me, to Ross, Sandra, Vickie and Stephen my heart hurts for your loss, and I am praying for all of you that you will feel the comfort that comes only from God at times like this. I love you all.
Uncle Roy you will be missed at our family gatherings. Will remember your wonderful singing and you always had time to speak to everyone whether it was a child or an adult. I know you are celebrating on the streets of Gold.
