Ruby Peace Matthes' Obituary
Mrs. Ruby Peace Matthes, 78 of Springdale, AR passed away Monday, February 7, 2005 in Springdale. She was born February 10, 1926 in Clay County, KY to John and Sophia (Reid) Philpot. She was the former owner and operator of Peace's Flower Shop and Nursery from 1960-1971 afterwards working for Community Home Health a division of Northwest Medical Center. She graduated Siloam Springs High School and was a member of the Fayetteville - Springdale Elks Lodge No 1987 and Temple Baptist Church in Springdale.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years Sam Peace and her second husband Judd Matthes.
She is survived by two daughters, Regina Chapman and husband Ronnie of Springdale, AR, Sammie Spence and husband Bill of Springdale, AR, one son, John Peace of Springdale, AR, five sisters, Mena Fowler of Sacramento, CA, Mae Thompson of Conroe, TX, Lee Beaman of Metairie, LA, Julia Howerton of Sun City, AZ, Sophia Jones of Springdale, AR, two brothers, Jarvis Philpot of Georgetown, TX, John Philpot of Forney, TX, three grandchildren, Ragain Chapman and wife Tiffany, Shannon Spence and Reid Spence all of Springdale, AR, and two great granddaughters, Olivia Chapman and Emma Foster both of Springdale, AR.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 10, 2005 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
Graveside funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, February 11, 2005 at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale with Reverends Wallace and Jarvis Philpot officiating.
