Ruby Pope's Obituary
Ruby Pope, age 85, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025. She was born August 11, 1940, in Oxford, Mississippi, to John Hubert and Lillian Lawhorn Turner. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Charles Pope, her parents, and her sister, Dr. Mary Catherine Elliott. Ruby and Charles joined First Baptist Church in January of 1963, and she was a member of Carolyn Howard’s Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her daughter, LaDonna Verser, and her husband, Lance; her sister, Betty Buchanan, and two grandchildren, Hunter Verser and Abigail McDowell.
Visitation will be 10:30 am – 11:30 am Tuesday October 7, 2025 at First Baptist Fayetteville. Funeral service will be 11:30 am at First Baptist Fayetteville following the visitation with burial to follow in the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
