Ruth O. McNeal's Obituary
Ruth O. McNeal, 89, of Fayetteville, died Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Washington Regional Medical Center.
She was born October 25, 1922 in Washington County, the daughter of Alfred Clarence and May Cheevers Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Charles David McNeal.
She was a retired co-owner of Goff McNair Motor Company with her husband and a homemaker. She was the last surviving member of her family’s generation. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville and volunteered at The Attic Thrift Store and Fayetteville City Hospital Auxiliary for 30 years. She was valedictorian of her graduating class in 1940 from Farmington High School; and was a standout on the championship basketball team. She was an avid fan and supporter of Razorback Basketball.
She is survived by a daughter, Marcia McNeal Woody of Fayetteville; three sons, David McNeal and his wife Jennifer of Fort Collins, CO, Eddie McNeal of Fayetteville and Marty McNeal and his wife Kelly of Fayetteville; three granddaughters, Shannon Bode and her husband Will, Nicole Taylor and Sarah McNeal; five grandsons, Robert McNeal, William McNeal and his wife Marissa, Zach Taylor. Chas McNeal and Jackson McNeal; two great-grandsons, Henry McNeal and Elias McNeal.
Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Monday, February 27, 2012 at Moore’s Chapel.
Services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 28 at Moore’s Chapel with burial in Farmington Cemetery.
