Sally Ann Stone's Obituary
Sally Ann Stone was born August 27,1929 in Council Bluffs, IA. After receiving degrees in accounting and education, she moved to Fayetteville, AR in 1967 where she earned a Ph.D. in education. She was a highly skilled teacher who helped and inspired countless children to read, write, and become proficient in math. Sally also enjoyed and supported the arts locally. She hiked and biked here and abroad even into her mid 80’s. She helped to maintain hundreds of miles of trails so that others could enjoy the great outdoors as she did. She was a lifetime member of the Ozark Society and Ozark Highland Trail Groups. She travelled to all corners of the world including as many friends and family as possible in her adventures.
Sally married Porter W. Stone on February 19, 1956. He preceded her in death April 11, 2014.
Survivors are her son Andrew Stone and his wife Terry, son Ron Stone and his wife Trina, daughter Christine Stone, and daughter Martha Stone and her husband Aaron Christensen. Sally has five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
There will be a celebration of Sally’s life from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., January 28, at the Butterfield Trail Lodge, 1923 E. Joyce St, Fayetteville, AR.
Memorial donations are preferred to Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks, 4703 N. Crossover Drive, Fayetteville, AR, 72764.
