Uncle Sam was a favorite. He was tall, strong and had the resilience of a work horse. His faith was unwaivering and steadfast. One of 9 children, he was born to German parents (known as the Germans from Russia) with a proud history of family, faith and hard work. As a side note, Uncle Sam and my Dad served on the same aircraft carrier. While Dad was still aboard ship, Uncle Sam came to Clinton, OK where I was born and was the first one to visit me (my cherished photos of him holding me as a baby will be with me always).
I'll miss our many visits and playing Mexican Train Dominoes with him and "his bride", Aunt Sadie. I had 19 aunts and uncles (maternal & paternal) and he was the 'last of the Mohicans'. He fought long and hard near the end of his life. If you had the privilege of getting a long, strong hug from Uncle Sam, you were blessed.
Rest in peace now and enjoy your heavenly reunion with your Mama and Papa along with Aunt Sadie and siblings Christina, Edward, Ruby, Hilda, Leonard, Evelyn, Norma Jean and Betty Ruth.
I love and miss you my dear Uncle Sam ❤️.
