Sam was a good friend at the AA Flight Academy. I always admired his instructional skills, his unfailing good humor, and his ability to retain the "gentleman's outlook". Hundreds, if not thousands, of American Airlines pilots owe a debt of gratitude to Sam for his dedication and expertise on a variety of airplanes. Thank you, Sam - and God Speed on your flight West !
Your dad was a sim instructor when I was a check airman instructor with American. It was always most enjoyable to work with him, as he was a knowledgeable, caring individual. I treasure the memories of working with him. Truly a patriot! May God give you strength as you grieve his passing.

Mr. Countryman was my initial flight commander at Fort Wolters when I was a brand new student. I later served briefly with him in the 1980s in the Maryland National Guard when he was flying the U-8 or U-21. He was always friendly, helpful and a gentleman. Rest in peace, Mr. Sam.
