Sarah Elizabeth Duffel's Obituary
Sarah Elizabeth Duffel, of Farmington, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 78 years old. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on November 2, 1945, to Johnnie Rudolph Covington and Glenna Mae (Stover) Covington. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband John Anthony Duffel.
Sarah was a 1963 graduate of Hall High School in Little Rock. After attending Hendrix College in Conway, she received her undergraduate degree at the University of Arkansas as a dual English and French major. Her master’s degree in Library Science was obtained from LSU. He librarian career was spent at the New Orleans Public Library.
She was an avid sports fan and particularly followed the St. Louis Cardinals, New Orleans Saints and Arkansas Razorbacks. She was a dedicated bridge player and loved playing with the new friends she made after retirement and her move to NW Arkansas. Other interests include events offered by organizations like OLLI and Newcomers Club of Fayetteville.
Sarah is survived by her daughter Christy Anne Duffel of Farmington; cousins Scott Covington & Pam of Fayetteville, and David Covington & Anne of Fayetteville; and many other loved ones and friends.
A Graveside service will be held 11:00AM on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville under the direction of Moore’s Funeral Chapel.
