Sharon Lynn McDonald's Obituary
Sharon Lynn McDonald, 75, passed away May 3, 2024. She was born January 3, 1949 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Andrew and Lucille McDonald. She was the sixth of eight children.
After she graduated Prairie Grove High School in 1967, she moved to Dallas, Texas to start her family. She moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1978 where she lived the majority of her life.
She loved sewing, crafts, thrifting, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was not shy in taking on challenges and fixing things herself. She was an amazing cook and was designated the official “pie-maker” for all family functions and gatherings and she made the best omelets and biscuits and gravy this side of the Mississippi. She loved to laugh, eat a good ribeye at Outback, and drink her Colorado Kool-Aid (look it up if you don’t know).
She loved her home in Colorado Springs and it was her sanctuary and most prized possession until she had to move back to Arkansas to battle her Alzheimer’s with her son by her side.
Sharon was a devoted mother and grandmother. She taught us all how to be independent, strong, honest, caring and love God to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her two sisters, Nell Jennings and Sue Cate; her two brothers, Billy McDonald and Zara McDonald. She is survived by her three brothers, Donnie McDonald, Thomas McDonald and Mark McDonald; two children, Nicole Petersen (Kirk) and Allen Hart (Lori), two grandchildren, Emma Petersen and Mason Petersen; two step-grandchildren, Dustin Mapes and Ashley Lawrence (Curtiss) and three step-great grandchildren, Anna Lawrence, Remi Lawrence and Jordan Mapes.
While she will be greatly missed, we all know she is in a better place.
Visitation will be at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville May 18th from 10:00 - 11:00 am with funeral service immediately following at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in Sharon’s name.
