She married her high school sweetheart, Mark Lindsay, on December 30th,1972 and they made their home in Fayetteville. After graduating from the University of Arkansas in 1975 she taught at Jones Elementary for seven years before taking time off to raise her three children at home. In 2001 she returned to the classroom as a first grade teacher at Butterfield Elementary where she made so many dear friends. The classroom was her place of ministry and she prayed over each student she had the privilege of teaching. After her retirement in May 2019 she enjoyed volunteering at Butterfield and also at Asbell Elementary as a lunch buddy.
Sherry was a member of Central United Methodist Church for over 40 years, and more recently she was a founding partner of Christ Church NWA where she and Mark were beloved community group leaders and she was a member of a weekly prayer group. Sherry loved to study and teach God's Word. She served for many years in her church as a Sunday School teacher and Bible study leader. She also served as a leader in Bible Study Fellowship for many years. It was her joy to pray for others. Her favorite praise to answered prayer was “To God be the glory," often sent in text messages as “TGBTG."
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Jackie Martin and Phil Martin. She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Judge Mark Lindsay, son John Mark Lindsay (Brittany), daughters Sarah Sego (Jay) and Laura Martin (Chris), grandchildren Kate, Clara, and Caroline Lindsay, Luke and Grace-Ann Sego, Addison and Cruz Martin, and brothers Jerry Martin and Marty Martin, as well as many nieces and nephews.
