Shirley Rose Foster Vickers' Obituary
Shirley Rose Foster Vickers, 83, Fayetteville, Arkansas. Devoted wife, loving mother, best friend, and a wonderful Nanny to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Born June 12, 1938, to Eldon C Foster and Maude Lavoy Foster Stone in San Angelo, Texas. Shirley was raised in San Angelo, Texas where she attended Angelo State University and was a member of the Ramette’s drill team.
Shirley married the love of her life, Leroy Dwain Vickers November 12, 1960, in San Angelo, Texas. Together they built an incredible foundation for their loving family. They moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas in 1969, where they raised their three children.
Shirley and L.D were known to many in Fayetteville and surrounding areas as mom and dad. Their doors were always open. Shirley worked at Dillard’s for many years as head cashier and then went on to work for John Allen, CPA, until she retired. Shirley was proceeded in death by her father Eldon Foster and her mother, Maude Lavoy Stone.
She is survived by her loving husband L.D.Vickers, three children, Loy D. Vickers, his wife Priscilla, Shari Vickers- Lash, her husband Thomas, Corby J. Vickers, his wife Jessica. 8 grandchildren, Preston Vaughn, his wife Alyssa, Alyssa Gurley, her husband Matt, Sierra Sidon, her husband Jesus, Cheyenne Stevens, her partner Wesley Young, Rylee Gibson, Caden Gibson, his fiancé Mackenzie Gilliland, Gracie Vickers, and Logan Vickers. 6 great grandchildren, Caleb Vaughn, Carson Gurley, Freya Young, Maddox Sidon, Braxton Gurley, Atlas Young, and one sister Mary Janice Tullos of San Angelo, Texas.
Shirley loved her family beyond measure, and they were the light of her life. Her legacy of love and devotion will live on through the generations.
Services for Shirley will be held at Nelson Berna Funeral home, Saturday, November 20, 2021, with visitation at 10:00 am, service at 11:00 and interment immediately following at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Fayetteville, Arkansas.
