Simeon Eclee Akers age 86 of Winslow, Arkansas, died May 7th, 2011 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.He was born April 8, 1925 in Sulligent, Alabama the son of Merrideth Clifton and Eula Mae Townsend Akers. He was a Sergeant (E5) in the United States Army and served during WWII and the Korean War. He attended the First Baptist Church in West Fork, Arkansas.Survivors include his wife, Leona Akers, daughters, Barbara Smith and husband Ed of Hebron, Ohio, Sue Maglasang of Wahiawa, HI, Jerri Huff and husband Steve of Hebron, Ohio, and Lina Diley and husband Tom of Blacklick, Ohio, his adopted son Oscar Rice of Knoxville, two step-sons, Alan Thurber and wife Mary of Winslow, Arkansas and David Thurber of Winslow, Arkansas, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.A memorial service will be held 7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at West Fork First Baptist Church.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in his name be made to his favorite charity, the Wounded Warrior Project (http://woundedwarriorproject.org.)
