Specialist Brian A. Botello's Obituary
Specialist Brian Anthony Botello, age 19 of Alta, Iowa passed away Sunday April 29, 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq. He was born May 28, 1987 in Muskegon, Michigan to Tony Botello and Karyn Brophy.
Brian entered the U.S. Army shortly after graduation and had recently re-enlisted for another five years, intending to make the Army his career. SPC Botello's nine military awards include the Bronze STAR Medal, Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Combat Action Badge. He was also a member of Summit Evangelical Free Church in Alta and was active in the youth group.
He is survived by his mother, Karyn Brophy of Alta, Iowa; his father, Tony Botello of Muskegon, Michigan; two sisters, Jamie Lynne Botello of Alta, Iowa and Tiffany Ferris of Muskegon, Michigan, and his grandparents, E.S. (LT. Col. U.S. Marine Corps, Ret.) and Sonja Lawbaugh of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Edward P. (LT. Col. U.S. Army, Ret.) and Carla Brophy of Columbia, South Carolina, and Carlos and Frances Martinez of Muskegon, Michigan.
Visitation will be 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM, Friday, May 11, 2007 at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Graveside Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM, Friday at Fayetteville National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
