What a precious person Stacey was! I will never forget her. She lost all her hair three times, but she never lost her smile or her optimism. Her girls started taking piano from me four years ago, just as she started her first bout with cancer. Through it all, she kept bringing her girls to their piano lessons. She seemed almost invincible, but when it became obvious that she was becoming very ill, I started going to the house to teach the girls. The last time I saw her, she was fixing for me, smiling, sending me home with food, talking about practicing with the girls, and was just so vibrant and giving. How she wanted to live for her kids! I will always, always treasure the memory of Stacey as I continue to nurture them with the gift of music that Stacey wanted them to have.
