Stephanie Squires Witten Schrum's Obituary
Longtime resident of Fayetteville, AR, Stephanie Squires Witten Schrum, 74, died at her home July 15, 2023. Stephanie was the fourth of ten children, born to Drs. Thomas and Julia Witten in Salt Lake, UT. She grew up outside Denver on a retired army base in Colorado called Fort Logan. She graduated from Colorado State University as a clinical lab technician. Retired from over 30 years of service at Washington Regional Medical Center, Stephanie was a Medical Technologist with American Society of Clinical Pathology certification. Later she received certification as a Specialist in Hematology. She was engrossed in the workings of the hospital and in taking advantage of emerging medical technologies. In her spare time, she perfected and invented her own patterns in embroidery, knitting, and crocheting. She discovered her skill in creative writing with a series of exquisite vignettes, titled The Teacup Stories and Fleeting Glimpses. She was married to Robert Schrum from 1972 to 1991.
She is survived by daughters Rebecca Pearson (grandchildren Sarah, Katie, and Rhys) and Hannah Schrum (Alden, the WonderDog), and son Seth Schrum (Steven and Celine Marie). She also leaves behind her mostly companion, Alfie, the Republican cat. Her Witten siblings join them in celebrating Stephanie's sense of humor and daring wit, not to mention her tongue-in- cheek personal predictions for each: Thomas (Molly) Witten, Margaret Shaw (Cliff), Barbara Erickson, Judith Witten (Marilyn), Caroline Jurado (Alex), Donald Reston Witten, Jon Witten (Cynthiana).
