Steven McKinley Mayes' Obituary
Steven McKinley Mayes, age 71, of Springdale, AR passed away from earth to heaven on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. He was born on February 22, 1954, in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Robert Clyde Mayes and Maxine Epperson Mayes. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Robert Mayes and his wife of eighteen years Tanra.
Steve graduated from Fayetteville High School and attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville where he played Rugby. He grew up attending the First Baptist Church of Fayetteville with his family. Steve worked for the United States Postal Service, and he was a delivery driver for several companies in Northwest Arkansas and the River Valley. Steve was a great caregiver to his mother and father and enjoyed their company. He loved the outdoors. Steve was a loving and supportive brother to his four brothers and was always available to help his family and friends. He was especially a help to his brothers on their farms in Northwest Arkansas. Steve was an uncle to numerous nephews and nieces, and he greatly enjoyed playing games with them; enjoyed playing in the backyard with them; and enjoyed his times swimming and fishing with them.
Steve is survived by his mother, Maxine Epperson Mayes; four brothers, Bob (Sheila) Mayes, Bill (Maeva) Mayes, Ben (Sue) Mayes, Jim (Linda) Mayes; numerous nieces and nephews; and friends.
