Dr. Talmadge S. Nelson passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023, in his hometown of Fayetteville. He was born on January 25, 1928 in Booneville, Arkansas to Seab Sam and Pearl Eula Pyles Nelson. Tal graduated from Booneville High Read Obituary
Dr. Nelson was my Animal Nutrition professor. He was an excellent teacher and became friends over the years. I always saw him at Harp's on the east side and we would talk about the good ole days at the UA Animal Science Department. He was a true treasure and he will be missed. Praying for the family.
Dr. Nelson was a patient instructor in the lab services area in the Animal Science department and he will be missed.
I was fortunate to know Tal (and Laverne) for more than 40 years as faculty, mentor, teacher, friend, and neighbor. His organization as a teacher served me well in teaching, research and employ in the poultry industry.
I loved both of their wry senses of humor, often speckled with sarcasm! They both were extremely loyal to family and friends, often opening their kitchen for dessert and chats. It was always a blast from the past when Tal would talk of Big Steve, and many faculty who have long sense passed away. Tal Loved to wear his hat that said BOHICA (for those who remember cuts in budget and programs at the U of A meant Bend Over Here It Comes Again!)
