Terry Lee Childers' Obituary
Terry Lee Childers, 51, of Centerton, walked into eternity without a wheelchair on September 25th after fighting a genetic disorder that weakened his lungs and heart.
Terry was born on February 19th 1972 to Terry & Clairece Childers in Mobile, Alabama. Terry often spent many days fishing for red snapper in the gulf with his parents and brother. In 1990, Terry graduated from Southside High School in Fort Smith and after, he went on to study Landscape Architecture at the University of Arkansas.
In 2003, Terry decided to give online dating a try, and by no coincidence, met the love of his life, Misty Dawn. They chatted online for 3 months, often staying up late messaging each other and talking on the phone for hours. Eventually, Misty invited Terry to Idaho to meet her and her two kids, Charity & Nathaniel– and they bonded with him immediately by playing video games. Terry & Misty vowed their love to one another on April 30th, 2004 and then moved to Northwest Arkansas as a family of 4. Misty meant everything to him and he often would tell people that she was his “rock”.
Terry was an incredibly artistic and creative person. You could always find him doodling in sketchbooks, creating customized tumblers, and designing wooden plaque logos of his favorite sport teams. He was a devoted member to the Star Wars Fandom and was a proud dog dad. Terry’s relationship with Jesus was always a priority in his life after his mother introduced him to God at a young age. At the beginning of 2023, Terry made the decision to read through the entire Bible in a year and made it all the way up to the book of Ezekiel–almost finishing the entire old testament. In his final days at the hospital, after waking up from being intubated, he told Misty that he had seen ten different visions of Jesus comforting him and Terry went into great detail about the brilliant colors that he saw. He was looking forward to painting the vision once he could leave the hospital. Terry was convinced of something greater.
Terry was preceded in death by his mother Clairece Childers, and brother Patrick Childers. He is survived by His wife Misty Childers, his daughter Charity Mower, his son Nathaniel Leyva, his father Terry Glenn (Gail) Childers, and many other loving family members.
A celebration of life service will be held at Northwest Church (301 SW Unity Blvd, Bentonville) on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 2PM. A visitation will precede at 1PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial contributions be made to following GoFundMe to assist with Terry's medical debt https://www.gofundme.com/f/terry-childers-medical-debt-relief?member=29661561&sharetype=teams&utm_campaign=p_na+share-sheet&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=customer&mibextid=Zxz2cZ
