Terry William Collier's Obituary
Terry William Collier, age 88, of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Washington Regional Medical Center. Terry was born August 28, 1934, in Edmond, Oklahoma to Bruton William Collier and Mary Aldora (Sawyer) Collier. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Terry married Phyllis Boult on September 5th, 1953, and they were married for 69 wonderful years. Terry joined the U.S. Army in 1955 and was stationed at Fort Lewis Army Base in Washington state. In 1957 Terry was honorably discharged at the rank of Private 1st Class in the Scout Dog Platoon. He restarted his private sector career working for Southwestern Bell in Oklahoma City, where he received a promotion to Service Representative in Chickasha, and Duncan, Oklahoma. He was later relocated to Hugo, Oklahoma, and promoted to Regional Manager and then Operations Manager in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1969 he left Tulsa to become a Director of Operations for Continental Telephone Company in Russellville, Arkansas. He eventually left the telephone company and became a Real Estate Broker for James R. Ford Coldwell Banker Agency, owned and operated a construction company, and enjoyed many years as an aerial photographer.
Terry was an active member of the Central Methodist Church in Fayetteville. For several years he kept a prayer notebook always nearby, and anytime he encountered someone in need of prayer, he would be sure to add them to his prayer notebook.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Phyllis (Boult) Collier, his two children, Debbie Johanson, and her husband Bruce, and Kelly Collier and his wife Lori, all of Fayetteville. Two grandsons, Grant Johanson, his wife, Sarah, and their children, Terry’s great-grandsons, Henry and Lewis of Fayetteville and Matthew Johanson, and his wife Grace of Nashville, TN, as well as several cousins.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Moore’s Chapel, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am with the Reverend Carness Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens. All arrangements are under the direction of Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
