Terry Layne Efird's Obituary
Terry Layne Efird, 66, of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 6, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Terry was the son of late Allen and Joann Efird. He graduated from Malvern High School in 1977 and earned his PhD degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 1994. His Psychology practice was in Springdale, Arkansas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Angie (nee West) Efird and their children, Jessica (Alex) Bellow of Lititz, PA and Eli (Nevada) Efird of Bentonville, AR; his grandchildren, Cole, Arie, and Clark; his sister, Joy (David) Wiley of Malvern, AR; and his brothers, Philip (Waldir) Efird of St. Petersburg, FL and Scott (Kristi) Efird of Malvern, AR.
Terry was a true lover of nature; he enjoyed backpacking in the mountains, canoeing the rivers, and cycling adventures.
A celebration of his life will be held in June. Rather than mourning, Terry requested a party filled with music, laughter, and stories. A private family gathering was held immediately following his passing. Details for the upcoming celebration of life will be announced to family and friends in the coming weeks.
In Lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Ozark Highlands Trail Association or take a hike on your favorite trail in Terry’s honor.
