Thomas Albert Brawner's Obituary
Mr. Thomas Albert Brawner, 79, of Fayetteville, AR (formerly of Ft. Smith) passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2006 in Fayetteville. He was born October 24, 1926 in Coleman, TX to Joseph Richard (J.R.) Brawner and Fannie May (Croft) Brawner.
Mr. Brawner was among the first Americans to develop the oil industry in Kuwait in the 1960s. He later served as a hospital administrator, retiring as Vice-President after 30 years with St. Edward Mercy Medical Center in Ft. Smith, where he directed the establishment of several additional Arkansas hospitals. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Central Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith, and was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by Rosa Louise King Brawner, his wife of 56 years; one daughter, Dr. Teresa Brawner Bevis of Fayetteville, AR; a sister, Mrs.Helen Pryor of Midland, TX; and two grandchildren - Thomas Emmett Brawner Bevis and Rose Elizabeth Bevis, both of Fayetteville.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 2, 2006 from 11:00 AM until 12 noon at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home.
Graveside funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, October 2, 2006 at Fayetteville National Cemetery with Reverend Craig Russell officiating.
