Thomas Wayne Russell's Obituary
Thomas Wayne Russell age 66 of Fayetteville Arkansas passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 12th at Willard Walker Hospice House surrounded by his family. Tommy was born October 18, 1954 in Hope, Arkansas where he was raised and graduated from Hope High, and attended Ouachita Baptist University. He was preceded in death by his father Carter Wayne Russell and is survived by his mother Billie Marie Russell and brother Keith Russell of Hope, Arkansas, his loving wife Virginia Russell, and two children Carter Russell (Sarah) and Riley Russell (Mary) of Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Tommy was in radio and media advertising for 30 years. He never met a stranger and was quick to assign everyone a nickname. Tommy enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He was happiest when spending time with his family, watching the Razorbacks play, hunting with his bird dog, and grilling in the backyard. Tommy was a history buff and loved the classics, he could quote Lonesome Dove line for line. Everyone who met him would hear a captivating story, fondly referred to as “Tommy-isms.” His memory will remain with us through these stories and he will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be 10:00 am, Saturday, January 23, 2021 at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville with a memorial service to follow. The family would like to encourage friends and family in attendance to respect CDC guidelines.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Research or The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
