I took tap..jazz..and ballet from Miss Toby for many years from elementary through high school....She was such an inspiration in dance and fitness..She had a powerful presence.....I respected her so much...would love to be in class with her today......Kindest Regards with warm memories....Meagan Steele
Toby was my ballet instructor from 1957 to 1961, and also taught me ballroom dance. She and her mother, Sue Keller, were so nice.
Fond memories come from having been a student at the Keller-Jorgensen Dance Studio in Fayetteville. Begining my dance instruction in 1949 and continuing studying at the studio until 1963, I had the privilege of receieving professional instruction from both Mrs.Keller and Toby. Toby's children Garrett and Daryl were also friends from our years in school together.One of the fond memories was accompying Toby to a dance conference in New York City for two weeks.How lucky so many people were to have the dance studio in Fayetteville. It was a gem to the community,and the opportunities it offered so many families touched the hearts of so many people. With admiration for their dedication, enthusiasm, and professionalism toward dance, Daryl and her family can be proud to know that friends, co-workers and students have gained from The Keller-Jorgenson Studio instruction a richer life. My daughter, Shannon, was blessed to be one of Toby's students for 14 years. Toby shared her love for dance with her students and with her community. She was an inspiration! Toby taught by example. Her attention to detail and the discipline she demanded of herself and from her students were stepping stones to a life well lived. May God bless her and may her family know peace. Toby was a fine lady and a wonderful teacher. She expected perfection from each of her students as she offfered encouraging guidance.I am forever greatful for the opportunities I had to take dancing lessions (ballet and Junior Assemble).She instilled in me a love for dance performances thaat endures to this day. Toby taught dance, its techniques and disciplines, to me for 12 years and, a generation later, to both of my daughters for 6 years. To this day I have witnessed no other instructor in the area equal to her. Toby demanded and deserved the respect she garnered during lessons in her studio. God bless her life legacy. From age 3 to 18 I was taking dance lessons from Miss Toby! She taught me so much more than tap, ballet, and jazz in that 15-year span. Her commitment to the arts in our community is stellar. My condolences to the family.
My first dancing lessons were in the Keller Studio in 1941. I studied there until 1956, when Sue Keller and Toby encouraged, pushed me, to go to NYC to the Juilliard School to study with ballet and modern dance icons. Miss Toby was a Fayetteville icon, who instilled the love of dancing in hundreds of children. I still love to dance to this day because of her influence. What a gift she bestowed upon others. It's a fine legacy that should make her family so proud.
