Tyler Jerome Nelson's Obituary
Tyler Jerome Nelson was born May 29, 1963 to Steve Nelson and LuGean Darnell Jackson in Wynne, AR. Tyler passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 18, 2022 at his home in Fayetteville, AR.
On May 13, 1989, Reverend J.W. Johnson united Tyler and the love of his life, Inger Warren, in marriage after they had dated for nearly nine years. They were happily married for thirty-two years. Tyler was a very hard-working man who loved and cared for his family deeply. He was a devoted husband and truly a girl dad. He always enjoyed playing chess, solitaire, listening to R & B music, and eating ice cream or a heated honey bun from time to time. He could even sing, but rarely did.
Tyler began his career in the meat department at IGA Foodliner in Wynne as a butcher. He worked in this industry for 12 years consistently before becoming the owner and operator of Nelsons Services-Lawn Company. He continued to work as a butcher during the off season of his lawn business for the last 25 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Christian Methodist Episcopal Church from a young age and was a faithful member of Christian Life Cathedral in Fayetteville for over 30 years where he served as an usher, youth sponsor, life group leader and supported his wife as an elder.
Tyler is survived by his wife, Inger Nelson; his mother, LuGean Jackson of Wynne, AR; two daughters, Solanda Nelson of Conway, AR; Stephany Lucas and her husband Bradley Lucas of Fayetteville, AR; and their adopted daughter, Ronessa Hooker of Oklahoma City, OK; one brother, George Nelson and his wife Arnetta “Red” Nelson of Wynne, AR; three grandchildren, Dayton and Madison Hooker; Raiden Lucas, and one grandchild on the way, Rowan Lucas. Tyler loved and cared for a host of cousins, nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly.
Tyler was a man of few words but was beloved by everyone who knew him and the community he served. His kindness, generosity, and determination were evident to everyone. Mourning his passing are a slew of family members and his special friends, Terri Ann and Reggie Everett, Archie Carpenter, David Dallas, Richard Mcvey, Billy Watson, Ron Capper, Kenny Oates, and an expansive number of brothers and sisters in the Lord. He will be truly missed.
Tyler was preceded in death by his father, one brother, Phillip Nelson and one sister, Yolanda Nelson.
“And when great souls die, after a period peace blooms, slowly and always irregularly. Spaces fill with a kind of soothing electric vibration. Our senses, restored, never to be the same, whisper to us. They existed. They existed. We can be. Be and be better. For they existed.” Maya Angelou
A Celebration of Tyler’s life will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Christian Life Cathedral in Fayetteville, AR, with Pastor Steve Dixon officiating. A time to visit with the family will be from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the church.
