We are so sorry to hear of Valerie’s passing.
I did not have the pleasure of knowing her, but our mother (Arlene Higgins) thought so highly of her, had so many fond memories and great stories of their time together.

Valerie was such a genuine person. When I spoke with her, I could tell she cared about her family and the people around her. She and Dan share a wonderful relationship and were truly happy together. Valerie had a great laugh that always made me smile. I will miss her.
Valerie made it her life’s work to care for her husband, her children, and her grandchildren while still being a loving and giving friend to anyone in need she knew. She was quick to laugh, to talk but also to listen and help, to hug, and to love those around her as God asks us to do. We are planning to donate to St. John’s preschool to help care for children and families as need, as Valerie so often cared for us. Valerie's neighbors and friends in her neighborhood book club and in Park Place.
Valerie and I were classmates at Harrison High School. So glad I had the opportunity to reconnect with her through social media. Valerie’s infectious smile will always be my fondest memory.
